Carl Arntzen, managing director of Bosch Thermotechnology, which includes Worcester Bosch Group, has been named this year's president of the Energy & Utilities Alliance.

On being elected EUA President, Arntzen said: “It is a real privilege to have been elected President of the EUA for the year ahead. As one of the UK’s most established trade associations, we have a huge role to play in maintaining the gas industries’ reputation, both in the UK and overseas. I intend to draw upon my own hands-on experience within the industry, as well as those of the membership, to enhance the EUA’s leadership over the year ahead.”

Arntzen joined the industry at Worcester Engineering while studying for a mechanical engineering degree. He went on to join the company as a development engineer in 1985. Arntzen has been a board director since 1997, and was appointed managing director in September 2011.

Worcester, part of the Bosch Group, manufactures domestic gas, LPG and oil-fired boilers in the UK. The company has also expanded its product range to include the Greenskies solar water heating system, Greenstore ground source heat pumps and Greensource air-to-air and air-to-water heat pumps.

Mike Foster, chief executive of the EUA, said: “Our trade association is incredibly lucky to have Carl Arntzen elected as its new president. He has a long and distinguished track record within the industry. With our new name, our broader range of interests to include green energy as well as gas and with the support of our new president, I expect to see Energy & Utilities Alliance go from strength to strength.”

The Energy and Utilities Alliance was formerly known as the Society of British Gas Industries (SBGI).
