CIBSE's 'Non-compliance Costs' campaign, launched in April, has gained support from leading industry bodies.

Leading industry bodies have signed up as partner organisations for The Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers' (CIBSE) 'Non-compliance Costs' campaign.

Launched 20 April, 2010, the campaign warns that non-compliance with the Energy Performance in Buildings and F-Gas Regulations is costing both business and the environment.

Partner organisations include the UK Green Building Council, BRE Global, the Heating & Ventilating Contractors' Association and the British Institute of Facilities Management.

CIBSE says the rates of compliance of air conditioning inspections are currently less than 5%. The campaign is calling for participants to sign up to support the Compliance Charter, which highlights three steps the government must take to tackle this non-compliance issue: "acknowledge air conditioning inspection compliance is failing and move the responsibility for enforcement away from Trading Standards to a body which is more interested and able to act; set targets for air conditioning and F-Gas compliance that the enforcing body agree are achievable and sign up to; increase communication with UK companies informing them of their obligations to comply with air conditioning inspection and F-Gas legislation."
