South Yorkshire-based company, A Shade Greener, is offering to fit free solar panels onto eligible roofs, thanks to the government's feed-in tariffs.

The company says it is keen to promote solar energy "that is accessible to everyone".

"Up until now, only the wealthy could afford solar panels. However, due to new legislation that [has taken] effect [since] April 2010, which will provide us with guaranteed income for the electricity our panels will generate, we are able to fit free solar panels onto any roof that is suitable," said the company.

"Now nearly everyone can have access to free electricity all year round."

A Shade Greener is aiming to fit solar panels on at least 6,000 Yorkshire homes.
