Installers are missing out on the potential market for upgrading homes with underfloor heating (UFH), according to a survey carried out by Hep2O Plumbing & Heating.

The survey showed that 50% of respondents had either never (18%) or rarely (32%) fitted UFH, while a further 24% of installers are fitting UFH just twice a year – leaving just 26% of installers who are regularly fitting UFH systems.

The survey also showed that installers could use the various technical support tools provided by Hep2O Underfloor Heating to help explain and sell UFH to their customers.

Of the company's 'How To' videos, one respondent said: “They’re great. It’s definitely helped me to sell a few jobs.” QuickCalc, Hep2O Underfloor Heating’s instant online quotation tool, also proved popular in putting forward the benefits of UFH. One installer said it was “excellent in getting together a printed quote in such a short time”, while another described it as “useful in giving customers a guide price for UFH”.

Gareth Samuel of Hep2O Underfloor Heating commented: “UFH is hugely popular with consumers, but only makes up about 5% of heating systems in the UK. Our survey shows that not only are installers missing a trick when it comes to selling in UFH, but also those that do find it far more straightforward than the rest might imagine. It’s not something to be afraid of! In these difficult times, all avenues for profit should be explored – and installers ignoring UFH as an option are definitely missing out.”
