The Association of Plumbing & Heating Contractors has achieved accreditation from the United Kingdom Accreditation Service as an installer certifying body, for a range of measures under the government's Microgeneration Certification Scheme.

The MCS scheme is in addition to the Green Deal installer scheme, which APHC began offering earlier this year, and will allow APHC members to install the full range of renewable and energy-saving materials and obtain discounts on behalf of their customers. APHC has received an increasing number of enquiries from installers who want to take part in both schemes.

Patrick Murray, APHC deputy chief executive, said: “We are delighted to confirm that after several months of hard work by staff and members, APHC has received UKAS approval to operate the Microgeneration Certification Scheme alongside our Green Deal Installer and Competent Persons Schemes. This will allow us to continue to provide a comprehensive Competent Persons Scheme and enable us to offer installer certification services under the MCS and Green Deal Schemes.”
