Ofgem has released figures showing UK solar photovoltaic (PV) installations have "overtaken any other renewable energy source" since April, when the feed-in tariffs (FiT) were introduced.

Data used looked at installations placed between 1 April to 31 July this year. Ofgem counted a total of 4,457 installations for the period, 4,429 of which were domestic.

This comes as research analyst, iSuppli, said the UK solar market is the fastest growing "in the world".

A spokesperson for iSuppli said: "The UK FiT is relatively attractive, although it could be more so if prices were comparitive with Germany and the US."
