Calor, supplier of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), is offering heating installers the chance to go 'back to school' and brush up on their skills with a £200 contribution towards LPG safety training.

The incentive, which is available as cash back, is open to the first 100 heating installers that send in a copy of their recent CoNGLP1-PD (Fuel Changeover Natural Gas to LPG Permanent Dwellings) certificate dated 2014, before the end of December this year

“There are around 3.9 million households in Britain that do not have gas heating, and two million of these are fully off-grid with little prospect of gas connection," said Paul Madge, national domestic sales manager at Calor.

"In addition, the LPG market is growing, with recent figures showing an annual growth rate of 3.8% forecast until 2018. This means there is a vast number of off-grid homes that require an alternative fuel supply such as LPG, presenting an ideal growth opportunity.

“Heating installers that become LPG qualified, and are therefore competent in recommending and handling the fuel source, can benefit from the additional work required alongside an LPG conversion, such as boiler installation and maintenance."

Installers who are already trained in natural gas safety can attend an LPG-specific course offering the CoNGLP1-PD module, at a number of colleges across the UK. Designed to test the gas safety competence of installers wishing to extend their skills from natural gas to LPG, the module typically comprises a series of practical tests and assessments.k

Mr Madge continued: “Calor is committed to helping heating installers broaden their skills, and our LPG training incentive is just one way we can help."

Installers can also join the Calor Installer Incentive scheme, which offers £250 cash or reward points to installers for every domestic or commercial customer they recommend who then opens a new Calor LPG account.

To apply for the training incentive, installers need to post of copy their certificate, together with payment details to Installer Training, Sales Support Department, Calor Gas Ltd, Athena House, Athena Drive, Tachbrook Park, Warwick, CV34 6RL, or call 0345 600 7701.
