During a review of its operations, Pegler Yorkshire has announced a proposal to consolidate its UK manufacturing and the possible closure of its Leeds facility.

UK plumbing and heating products manufacturer, Pegler Yorkshire, as part of an ongoing process, has announced that it has undertaken a review of its operations, with the objective of maximising efficiency and maintaining a competitive cost base, whilst continuing to underpin its growth strategy.

The review has highlighted that in order to continue its investment programme and drive growth in new technology products, the company needs to reduce its overhead structure. Pegler Yorkshire is therefore proposing to consolidate its five manufacturing sites which will, regrettably, mean the proposed closure of the Leeds facility.

As an employer of over 1,200 people across six sites and, having invested over £25 million in Yorkshire in the last five years, Pegler Yorkshire says it remains committed to UK manufacture. Consultations will commence today with trade unions, followed by up to 110 potentially affected individuals with a view to ensuring the best outcome is found for both employees entering the consultation process and the business as a whole.

The consultation process will take up to 90 days to complete.
