Renewable services provider Eaga has launched a pilot scheme to deliver water savings to homes in Watford, St Albans and Hemel Hempstead.

The company claims it could save over 700 households up to 15,000 litres of water per day. Homes will be visited by a qualified technician from water management service provider Veolia Water. The technician will offer free water-saving devices to help save energy and money off energy bills.

Veolia's recent Water Efficiency Campaign has so far saved 1.1 million litres of water a day since April, 2010.

Nic Gilbert from Veolia said: "We should expect to see total savings of around 19 litres of water per household, the equivalent to around 13,000 litres of water per day in the three trial areas."

The pilot's results will be analysed and the project could potentially expand to supply water efficiency devices to the 20,000 homes Eaga maintains for Veolia.
