Ideal Boilers is encouraging installers and homeowners to support the Big Energy Saving Week campaign.

The campaign, which takes place from the 26th to 30th of October, was devised by the Department of Energy & Climate Change (DECC), the Energy Saving Trust and Citizens Advice. It aims to help householders take practical steps to cut their energy bills by encouraging them to check they are on the best deal, to switch tariff or supplier and to save energy by taking control of their heating.

Research carried out by the University of Salford for the British Electrotechnical and Allied Manufacturers (BEAMA) controls group, shows that energy consumption by home heating systems can be reduced by up to 40% through the installation of a room thermostat and thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs), with installation costs recovered in around a year.

The campaign also highlights other ways for homeowners to save money on their heating bills with great tips including the best ways to insulate a house, the most efficient way to use a heating system and little tricks to reduce heat loss, such as drawing curtains when it gets dark.
