CME Sanitary Systems has become a member of the Wirquin Group, which, launched in 1976, provides water solutions for bathrooms, toilets and kitchens.

Wirquin's products are sold in more than 60 countries with over 1,300 employees and a turnover in excess of €130 million.

CME makes toilet seats, flushing systems and micro greywater recycling technologies under brand names including Ecoplay, Celmac and Macdee. It said joining forces with the Wirquin Group will help it to increase market share in the bathroom sanitaryware market, with the support and backing of this international organisation.

Brian Watson, chief executive officer of CME Sanitary Systems, said: “This is a very exciting time for our business. As part of the Wirquin Group, we will be able to extend our market share and product range significantly, enhancing our commitment to our existing merchants, distributors and specifiers.

"There are major opportunities for us as a business and with the backing of the Wirquin Group we anticipate accelerated growth and market penetration with both existing and new customers as a result.”

Gwenhael Le Coent, European sales director at Wirquin Plastiques explains: “CME is an excellent strategic fit within the Wirquin Group, which will ultimately provide its customers with access to even more innovative and sustainable solutions.

"There are many synergies between the two businesses and we are looking forward to working with CME to expand the range on a global basis as a result of this move.”
