Lee Darby beat over 650 installers recently in Ideal Heating's and Plumb Center's collaborative Ideal Challenge, stripping a Logic+ boiler in just 36 seconds.

Darby's efforts have won him a trip for two to the Barcelona Grand Prix with £300 spending money.

The challenge travelled to almost 30 locations throughout the UK and required the removal of the boiler's casing; sump cover plate and silencer; loosening of the nut at the fan venture union; removal of the fan; the burner front and rear nuts; and the burner.

Darby from Dudley said of his victory: "Our guys have been fitting the Logic+ since it was first launched, so we were already quite familiar with the internal layout.

"But I must admit, we had been practicing before the event itself, after all, practice makes perfect."

He said of his training: "Because it's so easy to get your hand into the boiler and the screws are very accessible, we'd managed to get our times down well below the minute mark.

"When we arrived and saw the times that had been achieved previously, we knew we'd have a good chance.

"When I found out I'd won I was over the moon – and so was my colleague Andrew Evans as he's an F1 fanatic and he'll be going with me to the Grand Prix."
