The Heating & Hotwater Industry Council (HHIC) has unveiled its newest working group, made up of large heating contractor companies.

“HHIC has long served the ‘contractor’ market but always within other member working groups,” explained Stewart Clements, director of HHIC. “The new group will bring together large contractor companies to provide a voice and direct opinion to government and stakeholders on routes to market and consumers.”

The associations acknowledges the key position installers hold in the heating market, visiting homes and providing a trusted voice, which it says makes them well placed to help drive everything from take up of new technology through to providing advice on energy efficiency.

“We know that the Green Deal programme failed because it failed to engage with installers and so this new working group will enable the newly formed Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) to talk directly to installers and give installers a direct line into the heart of policy making,” added Mr Clements. “This will be become more and more important as we untangle ourselves from the EU and as the Smart Meter roll out begins.”
