Ideal acquires more warehouse space

Ideal Bathrooms has expanded its Milton Keynes warehousing with the acquisition of a new 40,000 sq ft warehouse adjacent to the head office and existing warehouse.

The new warehouse offers double the space of the current building and brings the total square footage of the Ideal Bathrooms four sites to over 170,000 sq ft.

“Our business is about making sure we have the capacity and support facilities to ensure we can meet customer requirements from stock on a next day basis to 99% of mainland UK,” said Ideal Bathrooms’ operations director Kim Kirby-Earnshaw.

“With the continuing growth and increasing customer base, we were reaching full capacity again and needed extra space to maintain stock of the thousands of product lines we offer. We now hold over £7.9m of key branded bathroom products across our four distribution centres and this number continues to grow with regular new products and brand additions to our ranges.”

The increased warehouse capacity goes hand in hand with further investment in technology to maximise efficiency. Warehouse operatives are equipped with handheld terminals for barcode scanning and up to the minute stock control, with faster check in and check out recording. This technology is also being introduced for vehicle delivery personnel and is coupled with route optimisation and electronic POD solutions to enable more accurate information for customers.
