Viessmann installers from England and Germany will compete against each other in a friendly football match at Huddersfield Town Football Club on 21 April.

The Viessmann-trained heating installers will play an 11-a-side 'Vriendly' game at the Club's PPG Canalside Training Ground, before staying to watch Huddersfield Town's Sky Bet Championship match against Fulham at the John Smith's Stadium, on 22 April, as The Terriers fight for promotion to the Premier League.

Viessmann area business manager, James Carter, explained: "Viessmann has supported Huddersfield Town for the past two seasons as sponsor of its team sheets. As a German brand, the fact that Huddersfield is the most German club outside Germany – with five players, a manager and an assistant manager from Germany – was not lost on Viessmann! There are not many sporting rivalries quite like England versus Germany and we expect a match full of emotion."

One of the first English installers to be called up to the Viessmann England squad is Luke Naylor of AJN Plumbing in Huddersfield. Mr Naylor plays midfield for Golcar United, which currently sits fourth in the West Riding County Amateur Football Premier Division.

He's been a Viessmann trained installer since 2011, employing two staff and an apprentice to undertake domestic boiler installations in the area.

"I was very happy to get the call from James Carter at Viessmann who has played football with me before. There has been no trial as such and I've never played against a German opposition before. I'm looking forward to meeting the rest of the team and putting on a good match for friends, family and other Viessmann installers who've promised to give us their support."

This is not the first time that England and Germany have played at Huddersfield – in 2016, the England U20s beat their German counterparts 3-1 at the John Smith's Stadium.
