Heatworks Solutions has now launched, a new service provider designed to support contractors and engineers with maintenance of the complete heat network metering function, regardless of the type of meter specified or installed.

Heatworks is part owned by Rydon Maintenance, a housing development, maintenance and refurbishment group, and originates from sister company, Insite Energy, which is responsible for managing metering billing and payment for 22,000 homes across 140 communal heating schemes in the UK.

Lyndsey John, head of delivery at Heatworks Solutions, said: “Metering for heat networks is becoming an increasingly specialist area and we see a lot of common costly mistakes made in the specification process and in particular, with needless overengineering. We aim to partner with heating contractors, plugging the knowledge gaps and saving them time and money by devising efficient heat metering system designs that meet their customers’ specification. We can also ensure that the heat metering provision complies with the latest Heat Network (Metering and Billing) Regulations.

“While other heat metering and billing companies offer maintenance services, Heatworks currently offers a supply and install service for meters that are not its own or that it does not run.”

Heatworks Solutions can manage meter specification; system design, installation and commissioning; planned servicing and reactive 24-hour on-call assistance – from the plant room to each individual property. The in-property maintenance service will take care of all primary heat network assets, including heat interface units, primary pipework, heat meters, and any pay-as-you go equipment.

Plantroom maintenance takes care of gas boilers, combined heat and power, biomass, pumps, building management systems, and all other plantroom equipment. Maintenance and management of IT and metering infrastructure covers data loggers, routers, M-Bus cabling, and any necessary liaison with BT regarding account or technical issues.

Heatworks Solutions’ services, including 24-hour emergency cover, are initially offered in London and all areas inside the M25.
